Not everyone you love can make it to your wedding. A professional livestream gives those people a front-row seat from anywhere in the world, with clear sound, real camera work, and a recording you can rewatch the same day.
I’ve been livestreaming wedding ceremonies here in Colorado since 2020, when gathering restrictions turned it from a nice extra into a necessity. Since then, I’ve seen what it means to families, and I’ve heard plenty of stories about DIY phone streams that didn’t go as planned. Here’s what I’ve learned, starting with a recent wedding that shows exactly why this service matters.

A real example: grandparents in the front row from across the country

I recently livestreamed a ceremony at Brittany Hill in Thornton, Colorado. The bride’s parents reached out to me because her grandparents couldn’t make the trip from the East Coast. They didn’t just want to “see” the wedding. They wanted to share the excitement as if they were sitting in the front row.

On the day, I set up my mobile multi-camera livestream rig at the back of the venue’s outdoor ceremony space. Before the wedding, I’d sent the family a custom link. When the ceremony began, the grandparents simply opened it and pressed play.

They were thrilled. For the length of the ceremony, they weren’t watching from a living room across the country. They were part of the moment with their family. That feeling is the whole point of a wedding livestream.

Want the same experience for your own family? See how my Colorado wedding livestream service works.

Why not just prop up a phone?

Many couples ask a friend to stream from their phone. I’ve heard from a lot of clients who tried exactly that at an earlier event, and it rarely turned out well. Here’s what a professional setup does differently.

Audio comes first

This is the most important difference. If remote guests can’t hear the vows, they can’t feel connected, no matter how good the picture is. A phone on its own can’t capture clear ceremony audio from a distance. I make audio the top priority so every word comes through.

At least two camera angles, switched live

I always run a wide shot of the whole ceremony and a tighter telephoto shot of the officiant and the bride’s face as they speak. I switch between them in real time, so viewers always see the most meaningful moment, not the back of someone’s head.

Custom title slides

Remote guests see a welcome slide with a photo of the couple, a “we will begin shortly” screen before the ceremony, and a “thank you for tuning in” message at the end. It feels like a real event, not a video call.

Your family gets to be present

When Uncle Joe is holding the phone, he’s watching a screen instead of your ceremony. Hiring a professional lets every guest in the room simply enjoy the day.

You can learn more about my professional wedding livestream service and everything that’s included.

Who benefits most from a wedding livestream?

I started offering livestreaming in 2020, and since then it has become a fairly normal part of weddings. Grandparents who can’t travel are the most common reason, but here are others I’ve seen firsthand:

Family and friends overseas

I’ve streamed weddings where many loved ones lived on the other side of the world. Flying that far for one day just wasn’t realistic.

A new baby in the family

Sometimes a close relative can’t attend because they’ve just welcomed a new baby, or one is about to arrive.

Elopements and micro-weddings

I’ve livestreamed elopements where the couple kept the guest list very small. Livestreaming let all their other friends and family watch them say “I do.”

Is there anyone who shouldn’t livestream?

Honestly, it’s hard to think of a wedding where I wouldn’t recommend it. The one caution: if you really need certain people there in person, don’t advertise the stream too widely. Some guests may choose the couch over the trip.

Behind the scenes: how I keep your stream reliable

A great broadcast depends on things most couples never think about. Here’s how I handle them.

Reliable internet, even at remote venues

A solid connection at the ceremony site is essential. Most Colorado venues have good Wi-Fi I can use. For remote spots or venues without Wi-Fi, I bring my own mobile hotspot. I’ve run many broadcasts on it, and it’s been very reliable.

A backup plan in writing

I record every broadcast locally on my equipment. If the connection ever drops mid-ceremony, my contract states that I’ll upload the full ceremony film that same evening, so your remote guests still see every moment.

One simple link for your guests

After you book, I create a custom page for you, something like warwickadventures.com/livestreaming/your-names. It shows the broadcast time and an embedded YouTube player. Guests just open the link and press play. No apps, no logins, no tech help needed from Grandma’s neighbor.

Live chat for well-wishes

I turn on YouTube’s built-in chat so remote guests can talk to each other during the ceremony and leave their best wishes for the two of you.

The hidden bonus: rewatch your ceremony that same night

This is the benefit couples are most surprised by. With a traditional wedding film, you usually wait at least a week, and often a few months, for the edited video.

With a livestream, your full ceremony is ready to rewatch right away. That evening, you can relive your vows, see the look on your partner’s face, and catch the moments you were too nervous to notice. Your remote guests can rewatch it too.

What does a wedding livestream cost?

My wedding livestreaming service is $800 and covers a ceremony of up to one hour. That includes everything above: professional audio, at least two live-switched camera angles, custom title slides, your personal viewing page, live chat, and the recording.

If you’ve already booked me as your wedding videographer or photographer, the livestream add-on drops to just $600.

Travel fees may apply for venues outside the Denver metro area.

When to book

I recommend booking 3 to 9 months ahead. Popular weekend dates fill up on my calendar, so the sooner the better.

My advice if you’re on the fence

Even if only a handful of people need to watch remotely, a livestream is worth it for you as a couple. It’s an affordable way to get quick access to your vows and all the emotion of your “I do’s,” from you and from the friends and family around you.

The people who can’t be there will feel like they were. And you’ll have your ceremony to rewatch before the night is over.
