As a wedding photographer and videographer, I’ve had the chance to capture weddings at the Della Terra Mountain Chateau in Estes Park many times, and it’s one of those venues that truly shines in both photos and film. Estes Park is known worldwide for its amazing mountain vibes and the famous Rocky Mountain National Park next door. In fact, one of the amazing things about this wedding venue is that it is literally just a few steps away from the border of the National Park, and if you’ve been there, you’ve most likely taken photos inside the National Park without even realizing this!

Della Terra Mountain Chateau, now Della Terra by Wedgewood Weddings, is a luxury mountain venue near Estes Park, Colorado, known for its romantic stone architecture, secluded setting above the Fall River entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park, and themed suites with spa amenities, serving as a popular spot for weddings and romantic getaways

3501 Fall River Rd, Estes Park, CO 80517 / Driving there is only about an 8-minute drive from the main intersection in Estes Park.

My experience working there: 

If you’ve never shot at this venue as a photographer or videographer, beware of the maze-like layout of the Chateau! You can certainly get a little lost if you’re not familiar with the hallways and different rooms between the 3 floors; it’s a very unique floor plan!  I would recommend arriving 30 minutes early to get oriented before the rush of the wedding day begins.  Chances are that you’ll start capturing your day in the Bridal Salon room, located on the lower level, south side of the building.  You can also access the salon from the outside up a staircase near the parking lot.

Be prepared to do a LOT of walking around throughout the day.  The ceremony site is several hundred feet away from the Chateau.  The venue includes a golf cart to help shuttle the wedding couple and any older guests who need assistance over this distance. If you have a cart to help with your gear, this is definitely a wedding venue where you would want to use that: Videographers, yes, we have to bring a lot of equipment.

Overall thoughts:

Della Terra remains one of Colorado’s very best wedding venues in the entire state for many reasons.  It is managed now by the high-volume company Wedgewood Weddings, and the staff is friendly and accommodating.  I always try to communicate closely with the on-site wedding coordinator and let them know if we are on schedule and when I’m ready for the next formal event to begin. Communicating this with the DJ is also extremely important.

Lexi and Jake reached out to me to shoot their engagement photos in Colorado, thanks to a referral, and then they asked us to shoot their destination wedding in Jamaica the following year. My wife and I were thrilled for the opportunity! It was incredible to capture this beautiful wedding day in paradise, amongst the tropical backdrop, right on the pristine sand, and looking out on the crystal-clear waters of the Jamaican beach.

As this Colorado winter season nears its end, Rachel and Chris’s Estes Park mountain wedding was blessed with remnants of snow and spring on this beautiful March wedding day. Weddings in Estes Park are always so magical, no matter the season! We hope you enjoy seeing a peak into this amazing love-filled wedding celebration. Chris and I were also best friends over the years but never saw each other in that way. Until after college!! I suppose I am pretty stubborn LOL. Our wedding will be a very young-adult focused wedding with one big party. Chris and I love to dance! The dancefloor and band are what we are most excited for.”

Ben and I met through our officiant and my bridesmaid during the pandemic, I went to their house and Ben came over after a couple times and we all started talking. He also had his puppy and I had my two dogs. When we both left my friends asked us both if we wanted to come over to grill outside since we couldn’t go anywhere and we did, after dinner he asked for my number and we had many backyard patio dates at my house until outdoor seating opened and we went on our first real date and the rest is history.

An amazing April wedding day in Golden Colorado at the Rose venue! It’s not often that I get to capture weddings with a live band, and it’s especially not often that I get to capture one where the groom is the lead singer! This made for such a fun and emotional party with all of their friends and family joining in on the fun and dancing the night away in celebration of Luke and Meghan!
